For the generation in which the temple was destroyed, mourning was a continual part of their lives, but for the generation following, their connection to the past had been shattered. For them, mourning was already a conscious choice, and they knew that if the generation after theirs was to grieve at all, customs would need to be developed that would allow for them to do so.
In this talk, we will explore some of these customs, and some of the deeper meaning behind Tisha b’Av. Joining us in conversation will be Rabbanit Judith Levitan, Rabbi Rafi Kaiserblueth and Rabbi Nicole Roberts.
