Product Description
Having lived through the First World War, and heard all the stories, my mother was well-placed to make a prophecy which would come true. In Jewish homes it was customary on the Sabbath, on the Friday evening, to serve chicken soup and noodles and I hated this dish. I used to go to the kitchen and help myself to a silver of bread and butter rather than eat the customary dish. My mother always used to warn me ‘Mendela,’she would open this affectionate form of my name,’wait until the war comes’
