Carl Melman began writing his story in 1974. His story begins in Poland in 1903.
The first four chapters comprise an introduction to life in a Polish shtetl at the beginning of the twentieth century. Pogroms and antisemitism are vividly described. Carl moved through Germany, Denmark, Holland and France. He travelled through Tunisia, Algeria Spain and Brazil. He arrived in Australia in 1927.
It was a vivid life of travelling and full experience.
