The average prisoner selected to go to the labour camps of Birkenau, Monowitz or one of the fifty sub-labour camps in Auschwitz lived an average of twelve to fifteen weeks. Jewish doctors who survived the camp lived for an average of twenty months. Dr Ross Halpin examines why doctors as a Professional group were the largest to Survive Auschwitz.
Ross Halpin received his doctorate from Sydney University. In 2014 he was the recipient of the Rosalind Sharbanee Meyer Writers Award. Yad Vashem has supported his work with a Yad Vashem Archival Research Scholarship.
The Museum’s Wednesday Lecture series provides a valuable opportunity for our volunteer guides and Museum Members to to expand their skills and understanding of the Holocaust.
