For the past 25 years, educator Julie Kohner has pioneered an inter-generational approach to Holocaust education – addressing the the responsibilities (and challenges) of the second generation bearing witness to the crimes of the Shoah.
In 1990, Julie developed Voices of the Generations, a program introducing adults and children to the Holocaust through the personal story of Julie’s mother Hanna (herself a Holocaust Survivor). By sharing the story of a family not unlike their own, Julie hopes to help adults and students alike connect with this period of history.
Hear Julie discuss her program, the challenges of second generation testimony and share the powerful story of her mother’s Survival.
