Book Launch: “My Father’s War” by Jane Sydenham-Kwiet

N/A

Sunday 10 December
11am

Jane Sydenham-Kwiet only discovered her father’s 1943 war diary following the death of both of her parents. His short daily entries record the daily life – and losses – of his RAAF squadron, 31 Squadron, based in Coomalie Creek in the Northern Territory. Finding this tiny leather-bound book, written in his careful hand, raised so many questions for the author. She was left to ponder not only the contents, but also why her father had not talked more about this time in his life.

This is an Australian story. It is also a story of Australia at war during WWII, but at its core it is the story of a grown woman wanting to get to know her father better.

Join us for the launch of this fascinating new book with Emeritus Professor Konrad Kwiet, the Museum’s Resident Historian who also happens to be the author’s husband.
