On Monday 11th April, builders began the process of dismantling the existing Holocaust exhibition.

This was a sad and confronting experience for the Survivors who founded the space, and also for the staff and volunteers (old and new) who have invested countless hours into memorising the exhibition narrative and sharing the history and stories imbued there.

Amid the sorrow, is a palpable sense of excitement for what the future holds. With change comes the opportunity to challenge and renew our understanding of this unprecedented event and reflect on the kind of future we’d like to create.

When asked if he had had a chance to ‘say goodbye’, Holocaust Survivor Eddie Jaku shook his head emphatically. He said he would ‘never say goodbye’ to the Museum. He would continue to share his testimony with visitors and his hope for a better future for as long as he is able.

In short, the spirit of the Museum is not changing, it’s just having a bit of a face lift.
