Your chair could become part of the Sydney Jewish Museum.

A table is more than a place to eat. It’s where stories are shared, traditions are passed down and communities come together. Our upcoming exhibition, B’teavon: Jewish Food, explores food culture and the many ways we gather around the table, and we’re inviting everyone to help bring it to life.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We’re looking for individual dining chairs in an eclectic range of styles and periods, chairs that capture the character and history of the homes and gatherings they came from. They’ll be used around a communal table in an interactive display that also works as a café, so visitors can sit, share a meal and join the conversation. We hope when reopen in mid-2027 that you will come and enjoy the café.

The SJM Curatorial Team will review all submissions and respond to successful contributors over the next few months as the exhibition development takes shape.
