Watch this on-demand talk by Francine Lazarus, who was born in Belgium in 1938 and is a child survivor of the Holocaust.
To survive the war years, Francine was hidden in strangers’ homes and farms. She suffered intense trauma, having been isolated from her family and moved from place to place. Her father died in Auschwitz, leaving Francine with the only tangible memory of her father: his ring.
In 1959, Francine left Belgium and arrived in Sydney, Australia. Francine has since written a book about her experiences, called A Hidden Jewish Child from Belgium.
