Star of David Cloth Patch
Donated by Mia Meyer (nee Polak)
Yellow Star of David with the word Jood (“Jew” in Dutch) printed in black in the centre. Mia Polak was forced to wear the Star after Germany invaded The Netherlands in May 1940.
To survive the Holocaust, Mia and her sister hid on a farm in northern Holland for two and a half years. The rest of her family was murdered at Auschwitz. After her return to Amsterdam, she married and migrated with her husband and baby to Sydney in 1950.
