In her brand-new cabaret show Boychiks of Broadway, Alexis Fishman treads a Jewish journey along the path of the great composers of the Broadway stage. From the pianos and pens of Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin, through to contemporary Broadway composers like Stephen Schwartz and Jason Robert Brown, Jews have defined Broadway for more than a century.
Come and join Alexis for a night of beautiful music and lyrics, and some great stories about the lives of Jewish composers you know and love (and maybe some you don’t know yet).
The performance of Boychiks of Broadway accompanies our current exhibition, Jukebox Jewkbox! A Century on Shellac and Vinyl, which traces the evolution of music since the invention of the gramophone and vinyl record, and celebrates Jewish influence on music in Australia.
