Donated by Adam Szus
This Sefer Torah came from Brzostek, the small village in the south of Poland where Adam Szus was born. From a Jewish population of around 350, only 4 survived the Holocaust. During the War, a non-Jewish resident salvaged the Sefer Torah which had been damaged in the Nazi invasion. Adam was given the scroll when he returned to his village in 1946, and brought it to Australia in 1959. There is no Jewish population left in Brzostek and the synagogue has been turned into a public school.
