Virtual workshop details

Thank you for booking your students into a virtual workshop with the Sydney Jewish Museum. We have provided some important information about your upcoming visit below.

Zoom Link

You will receive the Zoom link for 3 -5 days prior to the virtual visit.

Before your Zoom

Please test your Zoom set-up prior to your session. This minimises the chance of technical problems and maximises the time we have together.

If possible, booking an IT person to have on hand for the start of your zoom session is ideal.

Ways to connect

You may wish to connect to your virtual workshop as a whole class on one device or as individuals on multiple devices.

As a whole class

In this format, the whole class participates via one device connected to a projector or smart board.

To set up in this format:

  • Connect one device to the session via the link in your confirmation email.
  • Project the session from this device via a projector or smartboard for all students to see at the front of the room.
  • So that the educator can see the group, face the device’s camera towards the whole class.
  • So that the educator can hear the group and ask questions, please turn your microphone on.

As individuals

In this format, students join and participate in the session as individuals on their own device.

To set up in this format:

  • Circulate the meeting link to all students prior to the session so that students can join the session via their own device.
  • We prefer students to have their cameras on, so that we can gauge their responses.
  • All students should have their microphone muted.
  • Students are encouraged to ask and answer questions through the Zoom chat feature.

Connecting to Zoom

Your Zoom meeting will be open 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.

  1. Click the zoom link provided in your confirmation email.
  2. Click “launch meeting”.
  3. Click “connect to computer audio”.

If you are having trouble with sound, zoom may not have connected to your preferred speakers. You can rectify this by clicking the up arrow next to the microphone icon and selecting your preferred speaker output.

  1. Select “speaker view”.
  2. If you have any technical difficulties, your SJM educator may be able to help.

Access

We strive to make our programs accessible and inclusive to students of all needs and abilities. Please advise us if you have any additional needs for your visit.

Content advice

Students may find some content of our seminars difficult. We recommend allocating time to debriefing the session.

Privacy

Material delivered during your session is the intellectual property of the Museum and is not for distribution.

To maintain the privacy of attendees, the online session will not be distributed by the Sydney Jewish Museum.

Payment

The school will be invoiced on completion of the visit.

For NSW Government School EDConnect payments, please email your purchase order to accounts@sjm.com.au prior to the workshop.

Cancellations

Changes and cancellations including dates and times must be made in writing at least 7 days before the scheduled session.

Each booking is permitted two changes at no cost. Each additional change over and above these two changes will incur a $30 administration fee.

Cancellations made within 7 working days of scheduled booking will be charged in full.

In the event of an irrecoverable technical failure we will work with you to reschedule your online excursion.
