Being the mensch our world needs

Now, more than ever, the world needs more mensches – more individuals practising small acts of kindness and working towards making the world a more accepting and welcoming place.

Here are some ways, whether big or small, you can be the mensch that our world needs.

Making mensch choices

mensch is considerate of others. Not just of family and friends, but of colleagues, neighbours, strangers, service people, other drivers and pedestrians.

mensch respects everyone. Regardless of one’s religion, race, gender, lifestyle, appearance or abilities. Everyone is human and has the right to be treated equally.

mensch cares. About their community, the world, the planet and humanity as a whole.

mensch is aware. Of others, of their surroundings, of their world, and their impact.

mensch knows that there are consequences to actions. They make good decisions based on how their choices will affect others.

Taking mensch actions

mensch does the right thing. Doing the right thing with the right intent is key. Not for praise but for the greater good.

mensch is helpful. Helping in any way to make their community or broader society a better place.

mensch looks after their surroundings. From looking after the environment to being conscious of others’ space.

mensch takes action, whether big or small. They do the right thing, stand up for what is right, call out what is wrong, and are able to admit when they are wrong.
