In a deeply intimate and personal event, author Jacqueline Saper will share stories from her memoir, From Miniskirt to Hijab: A Girl in Revolutionary Iran, with thought-provoking and inspiring views on how she survived as a non-Shiite in a very conservative society.

As a child, Saper lived a comfortable, carefree life in a Jewish family in Iran. Her Iranian father was a professor the most prestigious universities and her English mother held a high-powered position with British Airways. Saper’s comfortable childhood and adolescence in Iran ended in 1978, as the country convulsed with civil unrest and social clashes. At eighteen, she witnessed the 1979 revolution and the decimation of the Iranian Jewish community, as most of its members sought asylum abroad. She continued to live in the Islamic Republic for eight more years during its most volatile times, including the Iran-Iraq War.
