In this webinar we will look at the complexity of the relationship between the Catholic Church and the Nazi state including the role the Church played in opposition to the Nazi regime.

On July 20, 1933 the Reichskonkordat (Concordat) was signed between the Holy See and the German Reich. This was interpreted by Hitler to mean that he had won the Church’s approval, thereby gaining international recognition of his Nazi regime.

In the aftermath of the Holocaust the Vatican has faced criticism for the partnership formed with the Reich government, even as this so called partnership deteriorated through the following years.
