Speakers: Steve Green and Ines Dunstan

In this extremely topical lecture, Steve Green and Ines Dunstan will discuss the impact of social media in connection with truth, lies, Holocaust denial, Q Anon and other sites, as well as relativism and false equivalence and their ethical significance and impact on teaching history.

Steve Green

Steve Green taught Ancient and Modern History along with some other subjects in NSW high schools for 30 years. After retiring from teaching, he wrote a book, The Coherent Past: A Guide to Truth in a ‘Post-Truth World’, which is now in its second edition. Several Holocaust related issues are discussed in this book. In 2007 he was granted a Blashild Fellowship for from the Sydney Jewish Museum and attended a course on Holocaust education for international educators at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem.

Ines Dunstan

Ines Dunstan has taught Australian and Latin American history at tertiary level. Her academic career has spanned across numerous roles including topic convener, lecturer and tutor for Australian and Latin American history courses. Ines has firsthand experience living and teaching in Argentina for many years and is an experienced Spanish-English translator.
