Sydney Jewish Museum has a rich collection of photographs – around a third of the collection is photography. This webinar delves into the collection to find some of the gems that have never seen the light of day, as well as some of the highlights that feature in our exhibits.
From images that portray the ‘world that was’ before it vanished, to rare images of a wedding in the ghetto or the joy of a wedding in a DP camp, to images that document Nazi brutality and liberation, we will see how both amateur and professional photographers turned their cameras to the world around them in service of larger social causes.
