Drawing the Line: Ethics, Morals and Decision Making in a Holocaust Context

Each person makes around 35,000 choices every day. For the majority of these choices, we do not even realise we are making them, nor are we are not faced with a great sense of consequence. However, during the Holocaust, just one decision would be the difference between life and death.

In this talk, Museum Educator Breann Fallon will discuss ethics, morals and decision making in a Holocaust context. She will present some of the more controversial cases of individual decision-making in the Holocaust as well as broader thematic notions relating to ethics and morals, such as forgiveness.

By considering where particular individuals chose to “draw the line,” the historical commentary on these decisions in addition to broader ethical questions, this webinar will not provide many answers to these ethical and moral conflicts but rather will stimulate discussion on the very concept of “choice”.
