Jewish ethics in the contemporary era emerges from the traditional practice of applying principles of Halacha (Jewish law) to ethical dilemmas. The Torah (written law) and the Talmud (oral law) are the foundational texts on which such deliberations are based. Interpretation of passages in these texts result in the understanding of the Jewish attitude to contraception and sexuality in the different streams of Judaism. This seminar will examine the Jewish response to sexual ethics.
