For over 1000 years, Sepharad was the home to a large Jewish community noted for its richness and virtuosity. That all ended in the 15th century with the creation of the Spanish Inquisition and the final expulsion in 1492. Today, the Jewish Community there is still small in size but growing in stature. Will the growing tide of antisemitism in Europe turn back the clock on Jewish progress in Spain?
Moises Hassan-Amselem is an Honorary lecturer at the University “Pablo de Olavide” in Sevilla, Spain. Moises focuses on Jewish studies across a broad spectrum, but, as a native of Spain, has particular insight into the long lost community of Jews who were expelled from Spain over five centuries ago.
The Museum’s Wednesday Lecture series provides a valuable opportunity for our volunteer guides and Museum Members to to expand their skills and understanding of the Holocaust.
