In this Lunchtime Lecture, Judaic manuscripts expert Sharon Mintz will examine ketubot – Jewish marriage contracts – dating from the 12th through 21st centuries.
Sumptuously decorated marriage contracts have been integral to Jewish weddings for centuries and represent a magnificent expression of tradition in Jewish art. Sharon will discuss how ketubot through the centuries are microcosms of Jewish culture and testimonies to the creativity and artistic heritage of the Jewish people.
