Genocide occurs in democracies as well as in totalitarian nation states. The United States, Canada and Australia are examples. Australia likes to portray itself as a nation of noble and pristine origins, dedicated to fairness, justice and to the upholding of human rights. A brief look at Australia’s behaviour during the Armenian genocide, the Holocaust, the Yugoslav Wars of Secession and particularly the genocidal acts perpetrated against Aborigines, tell a different story.
The lecture is by Professor Colin Tatz who researches, teaches and writes in the fields of Holocaust and genocide studies, race politics, migration, Aboriginal affairs, youth suicide and sports history. He is the author of 24 books.
