Teacher Training – Deconstructing Memory

N/A

Friday 1 November
9am – 4pm

$70

6 hours of NESA-accredited Professional Development

Gain the skills to teach your Stage 6 students about how memory and history are constructed by history museums and national memorials.

In partnership with the Anzac Memorial, the Sydney Jewish Museum is offering a NESA-accredited professional development seminar for teachers of the new Stage 6 curriculum.

This day will offer an opportunity to explore the complex relationship between history and memory and discover how these ideas are inscribed in our museum buildings. Consider the ways a memorial established by a community differs from a national memorial; the ways memory is written into architecture and what it means to function as both a museum and a memorial space. Through a series of interactive sessions with museum educators, curators and historians, teachers will gain practical ideas for teaching about the construction of history.

The seminar includes copies of the lectures, teacher resources to assist in classroom teaching as well as morning tea and lunch.

To book into this seminar, please complete the form below.
