Simon Holloway will provide an historical overview of the Talmud’s place in European antisemitism, considering passages that were deemed to be offensive and looking at measures taken to “fix” the text.
Mr Holloway has a BA in Communication (UTS, 2003), two postgraduate diplomas in Biblical Studies and Classical Hebrew (Honours; Sydney, 2006) and an MA in Ancient History (Macquarie, 2008). He teaches courses on the history of Jewish thought at Melton and at NSTE, and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney. His thesis looks at the interplay of arboreal and monarchic metaphors in the Hebrew Bible.
