Join us at the Museum for a screening of Andante Ma Non Troppo, a film which has won international film festival awards. Directed by Jimena C. Puente-Treviño, the film is a celebration of ingenuity and courage in the face of adversity, set in the context of the Third Reich’s Nuremberg laws whereby Jewish citizens were forbidden to leave the country with valuables of any kind. The story involves a Jewish German cellist on the German-Swiss border, who attempts to escape Germany by cycling across the border with nothing but his Stradivarius cello.
The film screening will be followed by a script reading of prospective documentary 20.04.45. The script is inspired by true events based on the story of Michal Wionczeck, a Polish Jew forced to go underground in Nazi Germany. In a daring anti-Nazi resistance plan to smuggle photographic negatives from the Mauthausen concentration camp onto the international press, Michal will risk all for the negatives reach their destiny. Written by Jimena Puente-Treviño, 20.04.45 has been shortlisted in three prestigious international script writing competitions.
