Amy tells the life story of Amy Winehouse, the incredibly talented yet doomed singer-songwriter.
The film follows Amy through her teen years, when her singing talent is already apparent, through her journey of finding success in her career. The documentary illustrates Amy’s battle with substance abuse, both before and after her career blossomed, and which eventually led to her death at age 27 in 2011.
The screening of Amy accompanies our current exhibition, Jukebox Jewkbox! A Century on Shellac and Vinyl, which traces the evolution of music since the invention of the gramophone and vinyl record, and celebrates Jewish influence on music in Australia.
