Product Description
Thursday 9 November at 6pm
The Jewish community’s annual ceremony commemorating Kristallnacht – The Night of Broken Glass, which marked the onset of the Holocaust. Nazi forces set fire to about 1,000 synagogues, destroyed 7,000 Jewish owned businesses, arrested 30,000 Jews and murdered 91 in Germany and Austria.
The guest speaker will be human rights lawyer George Newhouse, Adjunct Law Professor at Macquarie University. He has handled numerous human rights cases and acted on behalf of Indigenous communities around Australia. His commitment to these causes derives from a desire to assist the most disadvantaged people in the nation and a sense of responsibility to help others, which he believes is informed by his heritage. In addition, Peter Nash will share his family’s experiences of escaping Nazi Germany and fleeing to Shanghai.
Booking essential. Please RSVP directly to the NSWJBOD on 9360 1600.
