Author Vera Hartley discusses Red Danube: A Hungarian Memoir. The book follows the lives of Vera and her mother in Hungary as the country veers from one end of the political pendulum to another. From feudalism to Fascism and Communism, Vera tells the story of fallible human beings, changing hearts and minds.
Vera Hartley left Hungary after the 1956 Revolution. Today she lives in the Blue Mountains. She wrote, the memoir, Red Danube, to honour the memory of her family and to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution.
