The Gap was Wide; A Kindertransport story

N/A

Thursday 8 June at 6pm.

On the eve of the Holocaust, thousands of parents made the agonising decision to send their children out of Nazi Germany. German-Jewish and foreign organisations worked hard to assemble and to dispatch Kindertransport (children’s transport) which brought more than 18,000 unaccompanied children into safe havens abroad.

The Gap was Wide; A Kindertransport story is Beate Hammett’s autobiography and is a wonderful and moving eye-witness account of the Kindertransport. It is the first children’s book by Community Stories that the Museum has published with the specific aim of being suitable to introduce the history of the Holocaust to younger readers.

The keynote speaker at the launch will be Alan Gold, internationally published author of over 25 books. Alan regularly gives speeches and orations on matters of racism and antisemitism.

Booking essential. Please RSVP by email to [email protected] or call 9360 7999.
